Dr Emmanuel R. Ezeome MB;BS, MA Bioethics, FWACS, FACS, FICS is the Director of the Bioethics Unit, Institute of Public Health, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Head, Division of General Surgery, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu. A Professor of Surgery at the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria Enugu and a Consultant Surgical Oncologist with the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu, Nigeria, Dr Ezeome has in the past been the Director of the Oncology Center, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu and the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Nigeria Nsukka. His medical education was at the Medical School of the University of Nigeria, while he had his Surgery Residency training at the University College Hospital Ibadan, Nigeria. He holds a Master’s degree in Bioethics from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. He was an International Guest Scholar of the American College of Surgeons, an ICRETTI grant recipient and Fogarty Fellow in Bioethics. Dr. Ezeome is a member and a Fellow of many national and internal professional groups, including West African College of Surgeons, American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), International College of Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, Association of UICC Fellows as well as the Society of Oncology and Cancer Research of Nigeria (SOCRON). He was the Chairman and Chief Examiner in Surgery, West African College of Surgeons from 2015 to 2019 and he is currently the President, West African College of Surgeons.
His research interests include Bioethics, Breast cancer, Cancer epidemiology and cancer control in resource limited environments.
Dr Ezeome is married with five children, and he enjoys travelling and watching football.
