Tina J Hieken MD FACS is a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist and Professor of Surgery at Mayo Clinic where she serves as the Medical Director of Quality and Accreditation for the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her clinical practice focuses on breast and melanoma surgical oncology. She serves on national and international committees, including the ACS Cancer Surgery Standards Program, and several editorial boards. Her research efforts are translational and include a Stand Up to Cancer funded clinical trial evaluating neoadjuvant combinatorial immunotherapy and drivers of immune response, resistance and toxicity in melanoma. She has additional funding for biomarker work in both breast cancer and melanoma and also studies the endogenous breast tissue microbiome and other microbial niches and their relationship to cancer development and treatment.
