Dr. Dietz is Director of Breast Center Operations at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Associate Professor of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Dietz earned her Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her general surgery residency and a breast surgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. As a breast surgeon, Dr Dietz has been caring for breast cancer patients for over 20 years.
Dr. Dietz is the President of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and chairs the patient reported outcomes committee. She serves as the ASBrS representative and Vice Chair of the Standards and Accreditation committee of the NAPBC. She is past chair of the Breast Fellowship Program Directors Committee of the SSO and is a current member of the SSO Breast Disease site working group. Dr Dietz also authors questions for BESAP and the ABS examination. She has served as expert on two multi society consensus/guideline panels for contralateral prophylactic mastectomy and hereditary management guidelines.
A dedicated researcher, Dr. Dietz has received numerous grants and has been the Principal Investigator of multiple research studies focused on understanding breast cancer. Her areas of research have include the effects of radiation on reconstruction, patient reported outcomes and value- based care, oncoplastic techniques and the role that genetic factors play in developing breast cancer. Dr. Dietz has published multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters related to her expertise and is a frequent presenter nationally and internationally. Dr.Dietz has served as an expert consultant for industry boards, international cancer hospitals and is a consultant for Cancer Expert Now, an international cancer consulting company. She expects to complete her Masters in Health Care Management at Harvard in the spring of 2021.
