Dr. Carlos Chan, MD, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He completed his medical degree and general surgery residency at the McGill University and his Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. His clinical and research interests focus on peritoneal surface malignancies and pancreaticobiliary cancer. He built an active HIPEC program at the University of Iowa. His research lab focuses on cancer immunology, mircobiome and metabolism in the peritoneal tumor microenvironment.
