A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Richard S. Hoehn, MD, joined University Hospitals as a surgical oncologist in the Division of Surgical Oncology, UH Seidman Cancer Center, in September 2021. Dr. Hoehn received his medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UCCOM) in 2011. He then completed a general surgery residency and a surgical research fellowship at UCCOM, followed by a fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2021. He joined the faculty at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in September 2021 with a practice including gastric cancer, peritoneal surface malignancies, metastatic colorectal cancer, cutaneous malignancies, and other aspects of complex general surgical oncology.
Board-certified in general surgery and complex general surgical oncology, Dr. Hoehn has served on multiple professional committees aimed at advancing the science and practice of surgery, including the SSAT Public Policy and Advocacy Committee and the SSAT Member Services Committee. In addition, he is member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, American College of Surgeons, Association for Academic Surgery, and Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract. Among other honors and awards, Dr. Hoehn received First Place in the Ohio Chapter Commission on Cancer Physician-in-Training Cancer Research Paper Competition in 2015; a First Place University of Cincinnati Department of Surgery Resident Research Award: Basic Science in 2015; the AAS Award for Outstanding Resident Research-Clinical Outcomes in 2016; a Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award in 2018, and induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in 2018.
