Juan Esteban Perez is a general surgery resident from Quito, Ecuador. He completed his undergraduate studies at Villanova University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Bioengineering. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Internacional del Ecuador. Additionally, Juan Esteban completed a post-graduate clinical research fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, focusing on clinical outcomes of bariatric surgery, surgical oncology, and the development of simulation models for surgical skills training. His current research is centered on studying the tumor microenvironment of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) using advanced bioinformatic methodology while also pursuing a Master of Science in Translational Research. He plans to pursue an academic surgery career in surgical oncology.
