Dr. Tardy grew up outside of Philadelphia, PA before attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN to pursue a degree in Biomedical Engineering. During her Undergraduate years at Vanderbilt, she worked in the laboratory of Dr. Michelle Southard-Smith investigating the genetic mutations leading to the altered development of the enteric nervous system in Hirschsprung Disease. After completing her Bachelors of Engineering, she moved back to Philadelphia to attend the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. She quickly developed an interest in General Surgery and pursued research projects with the Departments of Bariatric Surgery as well as Critical Care at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. She transitioned into a General Surgery Residency at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, PA where she completed her intern and PGY-2 years. She is currently serving as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Pennsylvania as part of the NIH T32 Training Program in Surgical Oncology Research under her mentor Dr. Ronald DeMatteo. Her research interests currently include Cancer Immunology specifically as it pertains to Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST). She hopes to continue to pursue her passion for surgical cancer care in a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology after completion of her General Surgery Residency. When she is not in the laboratory or the hospital, you can find her at home with her family and pets or travelling the world!
