Dr. Fluke earned her medical degree in 2012 at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. She was inducted into Sigma Sigma Phi National Osteopathic Honor Medical Society, being among the top of her class. She transitioned into the Navy during her General Surgery Internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP). She was Intern class Vice President and was recognized as Surgery Intern of the Year. She completed her General Surgery residency at NMCP where she performed over 1300 surgeries, wrote 8 peer-reviewed journal publications, co-authored a book chapter and an online surgical reference, and presented research at over 20 regional and national conferences winning regional and national research awards in 2015-2017.
Upon graduation from NMCP General Surgery Residency in 2018, she was stationed at U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan where she provided surgical care and support to military peronnel and families. She served as the Chair of the Infection Control Committee during the COVID-19 pandemic.
LCDR Fluke’s subsequent duty station returned her to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth where she is attached to the USNS Comfort. She was selected as an Assistant Program Director for the General Surgery Residency and the Medical Student Site Director for USU and other rotating medical students. She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine. She served the hospital as the Interim Director of the Breast Oncology Service line and as the Committee on Cancer NMCP Cancer Liaison Physician for the hospital. She volunteered for a hot fill deployment on the USS Eisenhower in 2021 as the ship’s surgeon, supporting Operation Freedom Sentinel. She was selected by the Navy for Surgical Oncology fellowship and matched at Donald L. Morton Complex General and Surgical Oncology program in Santa Monica, California where she is training from 2022-2024.
