Assistant Professor of Surgery
University of Münster, Germany
Born and raised in Germany, I went to medical school at Heidelberg University, Germany’s oldest university (founded in 1386). After completion of an MD/PhD program, I moved to the US in 2008 for a postdoc in colon cancer research at UCSD and Northwestern University. This was followed by a general surgery residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA, and a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY. After my surgical training, I returned to Germany in 2019 where I worked at the University Hospital Münster and became chief of the gastric surgery division and the division of peritoneal surface malignancies. In 2023, I took a global surgery sabbatical and worked with Doctors without Borders in South Sudan.
