Pasithorn Amy Suwanabol, MD is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Michigan. Dr. Suwanabol received her M.D. and completed her General Surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin and her fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Massachusetts-Memorial Hospital Medical Center. In 2015, she joined the faculty at the University of Michigan. Dr. Suwanabol's research focuses on optimizing palliative care delivery and quality of life for surgical patients. She has received funding from the National Institute on Aging (R03), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (K08), and serves as a co-PI for a National Cancer Institute R01/R37 focused on survivorship among younger adults with colorectal cancer. Above all, Dr. Suwanabol values her roles as a staff surgeon at the Ann Arbor VA serving our Nation's Veterans and as the Director of Medical Student Research at the Center for Healthcare Policy and Outcomes, which allows her to guide and mentor the next generation of surgeons and surgeon scientists.
