Olivia Sgarbura, MD PhD, is a surgical oncologist at the Montpellier Cancer Institute. Her clinical and research activity is focused on peritoneal and liver metastases, mainly of colorectal origin. In the treatment of peritoneal malignancies she is experienced with various techniques such as HIPEC, PIPAC and IP.
Olivia Sgarbura is the principal investigator of NIPOX trial (phase I trial associating intraperitoneal oxaliplatin to systemic FOLFIRI for patients with unresectable peritoneal metastases of colorectal origin) and of MESOTIP trial (phase II clinical trial evaluating the role of PIPAC in alternance with systemic chemotherapy in the first line of treatment of unresectable peritoneal mesothelioma).
She is an international trainer in techniques of PIPAC and HIPEC for the ISSPP (International Society for the Study of Pleura and Peritoneum) and ESSO (European Society of Surgical Oncology) educational events. In the last few years, she has been an invited speaker in France, Germany, Romania, Switzerland, Spain, Japan and Singapore and she gave Grand Rounds at CHUV Lausanne and NUH Singapore.
She is in the board of the SFCO (French Society of Surgical Oncology), RENAPE (French National Network of Peritoneal Malignancies) and in the communication board of ESSO and she previously received awards or grants from societies such as SLS, ESSO, SMIT and JSLS.
