Dr. Grotz completed his general surgery training at Mayo Clinic and his complex general surgical oncology training at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is an Associate professor at Mayo Clinic and his clinical focus and expertise is in gastric cancer and peritoneal surface malignancies. He is actively involved in clinical trials and translational research aiming to improve quality of life and survival outcomes through novel intraperitoenal therapies, iminimally invasive surgeries and perioperative care. He serves on numerous committees including, Mesothelioma Research Foundation and Debbies Dream Foundation Scientific Advisory Board, National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)Peritoneal Mesothelioma guidelines subcomittee, and the American College of Surgeons Cancer Standards Committee.
