Mark W. Hennon, MD, FACS, serves as Associate Professor of Oncology and Thoracic Surgery at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the State University of New York at Buffalo. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Hennon is the Director of the Thoracic Surgery Training Program at Roswell Park, which includes overseeing the Clinical Fellows in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgical Oncology as well as Medical Students and Surgical Residents from the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine.
Dr. Hennon’s main areas of expertise are minimally invasive thoracic surgery, complex lung surgery for locally advanced lung cancer including chest wall resection and pneumonectomy, esophageal cancer, advanced diagnostic and staging techniques for lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, and surgery for benign esophageal disease.
Dr. Hennon is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a fellow/member of several surgical societies. He has published over 50 peer reviewed publications - several in top tier journals, and multiple book chapters. His primary research interests involve analyzing the impact of minimally invasive approaches on surgical outcomes for locally advanced lung and esophageal cancer.
