Dr. Kuerer plays a leading role in MD Anderson’s world-renowned breast care group as a recognized cancer surgeon and researcher who specializes in the multidisciplinary care of patients with breast cancer. Recruited back to MD Anderson to help establish a premier program to train breast cancer surgeons of the future, he is now the Robinson Endowed Distinguished Professor of Surgery and Cancer Research,and the Executive Director of the MD Anderson Cancer Network Breast programs. He maintains a busy clinical research program and is part of the NRG cooperative group at MD Anderson and serves as a member of their Breast Committee, is on the editorial board of several clinical journals, and is the Chair of the Publications Committee for American Society of Breast Surgeons. Dr. Kuerer is heavily involved with the MD Anderson Cancer Network clinical expansion in terms of comprehensive assessment, benchmarking, and review of potential new partners and ongoing member hospital and programmatic relationships nationally and internationally. Dr. Kuerer is a regularly invited speaker at academic, national, and international meetings and has authored or coauthored more than 500 peer-reviewed scientific reports, editorials/commentaries, and text chapters.
