A/Prof Alexander Varey is a Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon, with a special interest in cutaneous oncology. He trained in Bristol and Exeter in the UK before moving to Sydney, Australia to work with the Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA), of which he is now a faculty member. Alex is involved in a variety of research projects, including leading the development of the melanoma risk prediction tools website 'www.melanomarisk.org.au' and co-editing the two melanoma textbooks published by MIA.
As a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Alex's work focuses on complex cutaneous oncology with the goal of achieving sound oncological management combined with optimal form and function. This work integrates with Alex's research interests, particularly with the development of risk prediction tools for melanoma.
