Issac Schwantes is a current PGY4 resident at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR. From rural Iowa, his initial career interest was in agriculture, and had ancipated farming with his family; however influences from his volunteering with the local fire department and EMS services shifted his career path into medicine. He completed his undergraduate degrees in Biology and Chemsitry at St. Ambrose University in 2016 and graduated with his MD from University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in 2020. During medical school, he developed interest in complex liver surgery which is now his intended career path. During his research time at OHSU, he has focused his research efforts in novel uses in hepatic arterial infusion therapy. Outside of the hospital, Issac competes in several Ironman and Olympic distance triathlons each year with his wife, Payton.
