I am a PGY-6 surgery resident at UT Southwestern Medical Center currently applying to surgical oncology fellowship positions. I recently completed a two-year basic and translational science research fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Sam Wang. On the basic science side, we are interested in understanding the function of ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex, and how mutations in ARID1A modulate the tumor immune microenvironment. On the translational science side, we are interested in identifying novel predictive biomarkers to guide the management of gastric and gastroesophageal junction cancer patients. Additionally, I am interested in identifying novel strategies to improve the management of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastases and ascites.
