Dr. Roshni Rao MD, FACS has been the Chief of Breast Surgery at New York Presbyterian since October, 2017. She is also the Vivian L. Milstein Associate Professor of Surgery at Columbia University. Her research interests include techniques to optimize breast operations, management of the axilla in breast cancer, and individualized assessment of the risk of triple negative breast cancer. She has numerous publications including first author manuscripts in JAMA, Cancer, and the Annals of Surgical Oncology (ASO). She currently serves as a Co-Chair of the American Society of Breast Surgeons Patient Safety and Quality Committee, and is a member of the editorial board of the Annals of Surgical Oncology.
Prior to arriving at Columbia, she was on the faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas since 2004. She received her MD in 1999 from the University of Missouri-Columbia, completed general surgery training at Baystate Medical Center in Massachusetts, and went to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship.
