Travis W. Blalock, MD, is an Associate Professor and serves as Director of Dermatologic Surgery, Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology in the Department of Dermatology at Emory University School of Medicine. A board certified dermatologist, Dr. Blalock's primary focus is dermatologic surgery including treatment of skin cancers with a specialized surgical procedure called Mohs micrographic surgery. This is used to treat multiple different skin cancers including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, sebaceous carcinoma, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, as well as many other types of skin cancer. Additionally, Dr. Blalock does surgery for other skin growths/lesions, skin reconstruction, and laser therapy of skin conditions. He is a member of the multidisciplinary melanoma care team at Winship Cancer Institute.
Dr. Blalock received his Medical Degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia. He then completed his internship in General Surgery at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He subsequently completed a residency in dermatology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta Georgia, where he also served as Chief Resident his final year. Following training in Dermatology, Dr. Blalock completed a Fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California.
Dr. Blalock is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. He holds professional memberships with American College of Mohs Surgery, International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, American College of Phlebology, American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and Skin Cancer Foundation. He has more than 90 peer reviewed publications and book chapters.
