Dr. Astrid Botty van den Bruele is a Breast Surgical Oncologist at Duke Cancer Center. She attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate studies where she was the recipient of the University Scholars Program. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology and Cell Sciences. After completing her undergraduate studies, she joined the NIH as a researcher in the NIDCD. She then went on to get her Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Howard University before completing her residency in General Surgery at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, Fl. Following residency, Dr. Botty completed a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Botty is also the Associate Program Director of the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Duke.
Dr. Botty has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, has presented nationally and is an active member of the Society for Surgical Oncology.
