Aaron Saunders is board certified in CGSO with a clinical practice managing GI, HPB, soft tissue, and peritoneal surface malignancies. He completed his CGSO fellowship training at Roswell Park CCC. He was successful in founding a new community-based surgical oncology program in Spokane, Washington and expanding this quickly to include three busy full-time surgical oncologists. While in Washington he has held faculty appointments with the University of Washington and Washington State University, with which he has been active in program development and medical student education. He is now transitioning to the role of Associate Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at Loma Linda University, where he looks forward to training medical students, surgery residents, and CGSO fellows. He holds a Master of Applied Science in Global Health Planning and Management from the Bloomberg School of Public Health. He serves as Chair of the International Committee for the SSO. His research and advocacy efforts focus on strengthening health systems for the surgical care of cancer patients, especially for underserved populations.
