Elliot A. Asare, MD, MS, FACS is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Utah. His clinical practice focuses on cutaneous malignancies, sarcomas, and other soft tissue tumors. His research interests are in cancer staging, health disparities and global surgical oncology.
Dr. Asare is the Founding Director of the Utah Summer Training Academy for Rising Stars (USTARS) at the University of Utah which is a pipeline program aimed at increasing the representation of students from historically underserved backgrounds in academic surgery. At the University of Utah, he is the director of surgical oncology education within the Department of Surgery. Dr. Asare serves as a mentor to many students and residents.
He is the current chair of the Editorial Committee of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC). He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Annals of Surgical Oncology.
Dr. Asare is a recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program Award.
