Sara W. Mayo, MD, MS, FACS, FASCRS Division Chief of Colorectal Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center; Dartmouth, Geisel School of Medicine with over 20 years of clinical colon and rectal surgical experience. She received her medical degree (magna cum laude) from the Boston University School of Medicine, General Surgery Maine Medical Center followed by a Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She is a graduate of the Harvard Medical School Surgical Leadership Program 2022. She has won multiple teaching awards and serves as a mentor locally and nationally for American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery. She has served on Commission on Cancer for over 20 years and is one of the Primary editors of Rectal Cancer Synoptic Operative Report and a member of the Implementation and Integration Committee for CoC Cancer Surgery Standards Program. She is a member of the SSO Colorectal DSWG. She has been a passionate advocate of quality care for rectal cancer and a physician champion of colon cancer screening, serving leadership roles on the State task force and best-practice series.
