Andrei Gurau, MD, MHS, MS, is a T32 Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Surgical Oncology Training Program at Johns Hopkins University. He earned his MD from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, a BS and MS in Biomedical Sciences from Colorado State University, and an MHS in Clinical Investigation from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining the T32 program, Dr. Gurau completed his second year of surgical residency at The Valley Health System in Las Vegas, NV. His research focuses on demonstrating the utility of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) as biomarkers for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) response to treatment and recurrence after resection. Dr. Gurau is also actively involved in various clinical research projects, including studies on minimally invasive surgery outcomes, machine learning clinical prediction models, and health disparities in surgical care. His ultimate goal is to become an academic surgeon and establish a productive research program while providing exceptional patient care.
