Dr. Mavros is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at UAMS COM and a surgical oncologist and HPB surgeon at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. After graduating medical school at the University of Athens, Greece, he completed his clinical training at the MedStar Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center residency program (General Surgery) and the University of Toronto (Complex Surgical Oncology & HPB Surgery). His clinical practice focuses on the treatment of GI and HPB malignancies. He has diverse clinical research experience which includes work with groups at the Alfa Institute of Biomedical Sciences (Athens, Greece), Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD), Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA), Georgetown University (Washington, DC), and University of Toronto (Toronto, Canada). Dr. Mavros is currently seeking to leverage the increasing amount of administrative claims data for clinical outcomes and health services research – specifically, aiming to improve the outcomes of patients undergoing cancer surgery and their access to specialized cancer care.
