She graduated in 1990 at the University of Milan and in 1995 completed the residency program in General Surgery in Milano.
1995-1998: associate physician in General Surgery and Emergency at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.
1999-2000: Clinical Fellow at Royal's Women Hospital, Melbourne (Australia)
2001–2010: Attending Surgeon at National Cancer Institute, Milan, in Melanoma and Soft Tissue Sarcoma Surgical Dept.
2010-2014: Deputy Director in Melanoma and Sarcoma Dept at European Institute of Oncology, Milan.
2015: Director of Soft Tissue Sarcoma Surgical Unit, at European Institute of Oncology, Milan.
2016-2018: Melanoma, Soft Tissue Sarcoma and Rare Tumors Surgical Division and Program Director, at European Institute of Oncology, Milan.
Dr. Pennacchioli’s main area of interest is limb, trunk and retroperitoneal surgery, with focus on neoadjuvant treatment (isolated limb perfusion or combined systemic and radiation treatment) and plastic reconstruction after resection. In Melanoma the current main interest is in neoadjuvant target and immunotherapy.
She has participated in protocol elaboration, patient accrual, follow-up and data evaluation in several randomised clinical studies in this field.
She is a member of several international societies (Connective Tissue Oncology Society, Society of Surgical Oncology, Melanoma Research Society, Italian Sarcoma Group, Intergruppo Melanoma Italiano), and has authored more than 50 scientific publications, most appeared in journals cited in Index Medicus (Pub Med).
She has performed more than 5000 surgeries in Melanoma, Soft Tissue Sarcoma and Rare Tumors.
