Dr. Joung is a Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Research Fellow in Surgical Oncology. Her research focus is in health services and oncologic surgical outcomes. Specifically, she is interested in health disparities, adherence to cancer guidelines, and variations in outcomes. She is also interested in utilizing patient reported outcomes to improve cancer care delivery. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in physiology from the University of Western Ontario and medical degree from NYU School of Medicine. She is taking time away from her general surgery residency at Northwestern University to complete a postdoctoral fellowship at the Surgical Outcomes and Quality Improvement Center (SOQIC) and obtain a Master's degree in Health Services and Outcomes Research from Northwestern University.
