Mark Reeves is from Los Angeles, California. He completed Medical School at Loma Linda University, his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his Surgical Residency at Loma Linda University. He completed Surgical Oncology fellowships at the National Cancer Institute and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
At Loma Linda University, he is overseeing the development of the LLU Cancer Center into a world-class facility as its Director. As a surgical oncologist, he leads the Hepatobiliary Oncology program at the LLU Cancer Center, and also the Surgical Oncology program at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System. He also oversees an active Surgical Oncology Laboratory, and has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and more than 200 scientific presentations in the fields of oncology and surgical education.
In surgical education, he served as the Program Director of the LLU General Surgery Residency program for more than 12 years, is currently the Program Director of the LLU Complex General Surgical Oncology (CGSO) fellowship program, and has been an examiner for the American Board of Surgery for more than 10 years. He also serves on the Board of the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) as the LLU Representative, in which he oversees the accreditation of the more than 20 PAACS surgical training programs in Africa. As the LLU the Vice President for Institutes, he is responsible for LLU’s 12 multidisciplinary Institutes.
