Michael P. O’Leary, M.D. is an assistant professor of surgery at Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) in Southern California. He attended University of California, Davis majoring in microbiology with a minor in religious studies. He then attended University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. During that time, he spent nearly a year abroad working with the government of Kenya, UC Irvine and University of Washington developing vaccine candidates for malaria and volunteering with orphanages and hospice centers. He completed residency at Harbor UCLA, a level one trauma center known for high volume penetrating trauma. He took two years to study a novel oncolytic viruses targeting solid tumors at City of Hope. He completed a two year complex general surgical oncology fellowship at City of Hope. He is a member of numerous professional societies, has been the recipient of humanism and teaching awards, and has over 40 publications in peer reviewed journals. At LLUH, he specializes in the treatment of HPB malignancies, sarcoma, melanoma, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, esophageal cancer, HIPEC, and complex abdominal operations. He has a passion to apply robotic technology broadly in the surgical treatment of cancer. He is humbly dedicated to walking with his patients during their journey of cancer care. This path will be different for each patient and some roads are challenging. But he strives to walk with his patients, and will do everything in his power to aim for cure.
