Dr. Lucas W. Thornblade, MD MPH is a board certified Surgical Oncologist and Assistant Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology at UCSF. He completed his training in General Surgery at the University of Washington and in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the City of Hope Cancer Center in Los Angeles County. He joined the Department of Surgery at Highland Hospital within Alameda Health System to build a program in surgical cancer care for patients living in Oakland and the East Bay. He has expertise in gastrointestinal malignancies including colon, gastric, pancreas, and liver cancers, as well as melanoma and sarcoma. His research and career interests lie in measuring and addressing disparities in cancer care delivery among the underserved with a focus on advanced colorectal cancer.
