Monica Morrow, MD chief-Breast Surgery Service,Anne Burnett Windfohr Chair of Clinical Oncology,co-chief Breast Program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center,Professor of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. She did her surgical residency at Medical Center Hospital of Vermont from 1976-1981,followed by 2years of surgical oncology training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center,New York.Dr. Morrow is the recipient of the Alpha Omega Alpha Outstanding Clinical Faculty Award from University of Chicago and the Women Making a Difference Award for Medical Innovations from State of Illinois,.She is a Distinguished Alumni of the Pennsylvania State University and a Distinguished Alumni of Jefferson Medical College.In 2012 she was the recipient of the Gianni Bonnadonna Breast Cancer Award from ASCO,in 2013 she was the William McGuire lecturer,San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. In 2016 she received the Susan G Komen Brinker Award for Scientific Distinction in Clinical Research,in 2019 was the recipient of the St Gallen International Breast Cancer Award and John Wayne Clinical Research Award from the Society of Surgical Oncology. Inn 2022 she received the SSO's Charles balch Distinguished service award. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow) and Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. She is editor of 3 breast cancer textbooks has published more than 650 book chapters,manuscripts,and editorials.She served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Society of Surgical Oncology, and was the President of the Society of Surgical Oncology in 2012-13.Her interests include the application of clinical trials data in practice,surgical decision making,and integration of multimodality care to decrease treatment burden.She co-chaired national committees on standards for breast conserving surgery in 2002 and 2007,and led national efforts to develop guidelines for margins for breast conserving surgery in invasive cancer and DCIS in 2013 and 2015.
