Kavin Sugumar is a PGY-3 general surgery resident at Tulane University, SoM. Prior to his residency at Tulane, he completed a 3-year surgical residency at King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India. He then went on to pursue a 2-year Surgical Oncology research fellowship at Seidman Cancer Center, Case Western Reserve University, where he focused on delay in time-to-treatment in pancreatic cancer and disparities in surgical outcomes in hepatobiliary cancer. During this time, he became proficient in data sciences, large database analysis, creating and managing databases, and conducting several meta-analyses. His current research interests include disparities in healthcare delivery and surgical outcomes in hepatobiliary and melanoma surgery.
