As a growing number of premenopausal women are diagnosed with breast cancer, physicians are more commonly treating patients during pregnancy. It is imperative that surgeons participate in and advocate for a multidisciplinary approach that allows for safe pregnancy while optimizing cancer treatment. The purpose of this session is to provide guidance on impact of pregnancy on breast cancer treatment, including surgical decisions and techniques. While male breast cancer (MBC) occurs in less than 1% of new breast cancer cases, the incidence is increasing worldwide. Additionally, improved access to genetic testing has led to an increased identification of male BRCA2 carriers who now present for cancer surveillance. The goal of this session is to highlight advances in the understanding of MBC and to discuss the appropriate surveillance of male patients who are at risk for breast cancer and the growing population of MBC survivors.
